QuarterAcre.ca is about organic gardening, seasonal cooking, and life on beautiful Vancouver Island. Moderate temperatures and lots of rain create the perfect climate for growing things. A large greenhouse helps during the cooler winter months. We grow lots of vegetables, some fruit, a few herbs, a handful of flowers, and a tree or two.
We live in the tiny hamlet of Coal Harbour on the top end of Vancouver Island. We stumbled upon this place while on a driving tour of the island in April, 2008. After a brief tour of the house and property, we spent the rest of the day trying to convince ourselves it wasn’t the right fit. We failed, and put an offer on the place the following day. We love it here.
We really had no idea what we would do once we got here. Piece by piece we’re building a life here. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
